Excuse the mess… my children are making memories…

25 February 2018

What a week it has been in the Kastis’ household, two sick kids, home all day, is no easy task. It’s the best and usually it feels like the worst idea in the world, to let them help in the kitchen. Let’s face it, the house is not going to be the cleanest while everyone is home (and feeling sorry for themselves), so why not make a bigger mess if it gives them a chance to learn and enjoy the art of baking or cooking, while you make special memories. It hit me like a ton of bricks this week (while potty training my almost 3 year old) that my babies are no longer babies and soon they will not get excited at the thought of helping me around the house, so I better soak it up while I can. Every task you include them in, is a huge milestone in their learning. I also had lots to do, including preparation for an upcoming birthday party (which if you know me is a huge thing in my life) and a school outfit to make for book week next week. My soon to be 3 year old is now at a great age to help out with party prep so we made salt dough dinosaur bones for his dinosaur party! Lots of fun! And while I was at it, I couldn’t help but “fossilize” his hand print to remind me that they were once so small.
